Then, Now
STOP LETTING THE PAST HAUNT YOU.
It’s hard having some memories you just can’t shake off but the second you let go is the moment you allow yourself to keep moving forward. Who you are now isn’t who you were two years ago. I often find myself in deep regret of every decision ever made in middle school from the cliques I tried to fit into to trying the scene hair look. We spend so much time dwelling in our past that we don’t even take a second to acknowledge our improvements and how far we’ve come. Let your memories hold onto you in the most positive ways. Your past shouldn’t rob you of a happy present or future. Use now as the time to push those memories somewhere far away where they can’t reach you because you’re off doing better things that will replace those moments of terror, fear, embarrassment or sadness. Once you try letting your past better you, you won’t have to wallow in what happened in 2012 or 20 minutes ago. You can exhale a sigh of relief and be proud that you lived through it rather than living it down. The cool thing about memories is that they don’t exist now. It happened but it doesn’t exactly follow you around forever. So for now, hold on to what you can and cherish all the good times. Looking behind you will only make you miss what’s in front of you, and none of us have time to waste. That’s the difference between then and now.
